I want a second-gen third-gen Thunderbird now. That is all. Will they ever creep down in price?

You mean the picture? That’s actually a 3rd gen. :)
Looks to me like you can get a decent, driver quality hardtop for ~20-25k, which about what I’d expect to pay for just about any 2 door hardtop with a V8, buckets, etc. I wouldn’t expect it to drop much from there. I think only the Sports Roadster pricing is outrageous.

Being that it’s not a Mustang or Chevelle or other highly recognizable body style from the 60s, it might drop in price after the baby boomers stop collecting cars, but that might take a few years still...
There is actually a ‘63 in my area for sale for $2500. It’s a project car, stuck motor, some rear quarter rust, but pretty complete for a project.
If I had the money, I’d grab that and spend a few weeks/months getting it running again and drive it as is for a while.

Jeez you’re right. Forgot about the second gen (which is fine with me, they’re pretty ugly).

I *wish* I could forget the 2nd gen. I’m not a fan, either. I love the one pictured, as well as the one after it—
